Unbeatable view and location in Fira!!
Location, location, location! The location was perfect for the caldera views and the sunset. And, the shops and restaurants were all right there!! I went alone and never felt unsafe or put-out that I had to walk too far. It’s the last hotel in Fira’s north side on the caldera, so you get a bit more privacy than other caldera facing hotels, as other places tend to be literally on top of each other. It’s close to the cable cars and on the donkey path, but I never smelled anything that other reviewers complained of the donkeys. It’s an idyllic location!!
This property has THE BEST unobstructed views!! I went for the view, and I got it!! It did make it hard to watch the sunset from anywhere else, as other places (restaurants) wouldn’t compare. So, why not watch from my own terrace, while sitting in my own, private hot tub/jacuzzi...drinking champagne?! I had the deluxe suite, which is the largest suite they have (2 separate rooms with beds). The bathroom was a nice cave style, with modern fixtures. The rain shower and hand held shower wand had great water pressure. I was not disappointed, as my expectations/main goal was to have a direct view of the caldera. However, if you are expecting Four Seasons room service, you aren’t going to get that. There are a few “hotel” like places, but they may not have that view!! The staff was incredibly sweet and the breakfast was a nice touch. I had a loaded omelet, fruit, and great Greek coffee every morning, overlooking that incredible view!
Tips: If you arrive by taxi, have the driver call the property before you arrive to have one of the staff meet you at Hotel Atlantis, since cars cannot drive directly to the hotel walkway. The staff will meet you, carry your luggage, and guide you to the hotel. (Don’t forget to tip the person carrying your heavy luggage!!) This is a good guide/introduction to see where and how to navigate through Fira.
